Nine Photographers Who are Changing Photography.

Dirty Laundry by Sigi KolbeMainstream photography has been around for over 100 years and you might think it and the artists who practice it would be pretty well established by now. But there are always going to be a small number of artists who break the bounds of conventional thought, master the latest technical innovations and find new outlets to share their enthusiasm for the art.

I recently had the chance to write about nine of these photographers for Jim Harmer’s Improve Photography website.  Their work is inspiring.  I hope you have the time to visit each of their sites to see their amazing selections of photographs.

You can find the whole story here.

  1. GREAT article Kevin! I’ve been a fan of a few of these people too but most were new to me – and all are inspiring! I’m especially amazed by the aerial photography with an iPhone. This really shows how technology marches on and how insightful people in every field embrace the new in ways most of us wouldn’t have dreamed of. Loved the one about the cookie tin pinhole camera too. Actually I enjoyed them all equally. You really did get nine of the most innovative – and you’ve given us hobbyists much to think about!

    1. Thanks Char. The hardest part of the article was figuring out where to stop. There are some great shooters out there. I ended up choosing these particular photographers because of the variety they gave to story.

      1. You chose well, Kev, and really did demonstrate the breadth that innovative photographers have given to the field. Photos are really NOT just “pictures.” They are art and open to a wide variety of methods and interpretations. This was an eye-opener article.
